The Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) set a new milestone in its vibrant history with the inaugural Family Day 2023. This remarkable event was not only a first for DBS, but it was also unique in the way it embraced the idea of family, inviting members to bring not only their relatives but also their very close friends, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity that echoed the very essence of blogging – connecting with others.
The theme for this unforgettable day was the harmonious blend of pink. Attendees adorned themselves and the event with this color, creating a visual spectacle that mirrored the colorful spirit of DBS.
The day began with a culinary journey through Filipino street foods, showcasing the rich tapestry of flavors that define Filipino culture. From the simple joy of dirty ice cream to the familiar comfort of fishball and the savory goodness of kikiam and french fries, the food was a testament to the diverse and delectable offerings found in the Philippines.
As the sky bathed the venue in drizzle, families and friends huddled together in the covered area of the venue, sharing home-cooked dishes and store-bought delights. It was a feast not just for the taste buds but for the soul, as conversations flowed, stories were exchanged, and bonds were strengthened.
The event was graced by the presence of prominent figures within DBS. Clea Banal, the passionate vice president of the organization, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the day. Her words resonated with warmth and enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of unity and family within DBS.
Gem Tadefa, the dynamic president of DBS, brought the event to a close with his inspiring words. His closing remarks encapsulated the spirit of the day, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of the DBS community and expressing gratitude for the success of Family Day.
A unique aspect of this event was the introduction of families. Attendees proudly introduced their loved ones and, in a beautiful display of inclusivity, some even introduced their friends as honorary family members. It was a heartwarming demonstration of the bonds that extend beyond bloodlines in the DBS family.
The event featured a delightful array of Filipino foods. A photo booth, adorned with pink and white decorations, provided attendees with the perfect backdrop to capture memories that would last a lifetime.
This event was made a huge success thanks to the generosity of foodpanda, the co-presenter, as well as the sponsors, who included Universal Robina Corporation, My Skin Origins, Glow Authority, Maple Food Ventures, JT’s Manukan Grille Davao, and BWNT – Davao.
Children and the young at heart reveled in the festivities, enjoying the inflatable play area adorned with pink and red balloons. Even an unexpected rain shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of those participating in this fun-filled activity.
The excitement reached a crescendo during the raffle draws. Lucky attendees walked away with vouchers, gifts, and coveted loot bags. Universal Robina Corp. sweetened the deal by providing delightful goodies for everyone to enjoy. Among the fortunate winners, I was particularly blessed to receive a foodpanda voucher worth one thousand pesos.
The unsung heroes of the event were the dedicated DBS officers who worked tirelessly to prepare the venue. Ms. Pau, Athina, and Gem, along with their team, ensured that every detail was perfect, creating an environment where everyone could enjoy and connect.
